2. Choose your Dates
Use our online system to check availability and hire for your trip. If you can’t see exactly what you want, email us at hello@california-campers.co.uk and we’ll do our best to help.
3. Secure your Campervan
Before you check out, please read our terms and conditions.
- You’ll need to pay 30% deposit to secure your chosen vehicle.
- The remainder is due 30 days before you travel.
- Each vehicle has a £1,000 deposit which need to be paid by bank transfer on or before the day of hire.
4. Present your Documents
A few weeks before collection, we will contact you for copies of the documents we need for insurance purposes. We will also need to see the
originals of these documents on the day. These are usually:
- Drivers Licence
- Proof of address
- DVLA driving license share code (so that we can make sure there are no issues with endorsements)
5. On the Day
If we are busy, we will give you a collection slot, otherwise vehicles are available for collection after 2pm on the day of hire. You can leave one vehicle with us free of charge. Whilst we have CCTV and secure parking, vehicles are left at your own risk. We also have electric vehicle charging available on site, so if like us you’re trying to go electric we can make sure your car is fully charged on your return (we do charge a small fee for this). We will give you a comprehensive handover of your vehicle, including sending you all of its featured and how they work. Please note that if you’ve not been with us before, this can take up to 45 minutes.
6. Whilst you’re Away
We are here to help you with any questions whilst you are away. All of our vehicles are new, but in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong they come with comprehensive “return to base” breakdown cover. For anything else, just give us a call or check out our “How to” videos (which you’ll find in the form of QR code links in your vehicle).
7. Returning your Vehicle
All good things must come to an end (but there’s always next year!). When returning your vehicle, please remember:
- Vehicles must be returned by 10am. There are charges for late return as this can impact on subsequent renters
- If you do want to extend your rental, please speak to us at least 24 hours in advance so that we can check if it is available – we’ll do our best to accommodate you
- The vehicle needs to be returned with a full tank of fuel (there is a fuelling station 500 meters from our premises here) and the inside needs to be clean – please make sure you empty it out fully and (if you’ve been adventuring) the sand and mud has been hoovered out. We don’t expect perfection, but we do reserve the right to charge a £50 cleaning fee if the vehicle is very dirty

FAQs
All our vans must be returned with a full tank of fuel. There is a refuelling station 500 meters from our premises away here.
We’ll do our best to accommodate well behaved dogs in our pet-friendly campervans, so please check at the time of booking if one is available. It’s a maximum of two small (think Pug) sized pooches or one larger Labrador pooch per camper. There is an additional deep cleaning charge payable on booking.
Of course! We have secure on-site parking with CCTV for one car per campervan hire. Please note that parking is solely at your own risk.
You’ll only need to bring your own towels, bedding (including pillows and duvets or sleeping bags), clothes and food. We’ll provide you with our suggested packing list when you book.
For insurance purposes drivers need to be between 25 and 75 years old, and have no current traffic endorsements except minor ones. If in doubt, please check with us before booking. You also need to have held a full driving licence for three years or more.
Yes, we allow one additional driver per vehicle at a cost of £5 per day.
We’ll always make sure that we give you a comprehensive handover and show you how all the vehicle’s features operate. If you forget, that’s not an issue, we’re always just a phone call away or you can use our handy videos.
Vehicles are usually available by 2.00 pm on the day of hire – please allow 45 minutes for handover. If you need the vehicle earlier please let us know in advance and we will do what we can.
Vehicles need to be returned by 10.00 am on the last day of hire and we reserve the right to charge £25 per half hour late return fee. This is because of the knock-on effect on subsequent hirers. If you are going to be late, please let us know as soon as possible.
